A slideshow skin is not meant to show the images on their normal / original size. All images are resized to the size of the skin (for instance 600 x 400 pixels, 1200 x 800 pixels, or whatever). Such a skin should never be sized to 4.000 pixels, whatever size the screen has, because it's not a good idea to have the skin on the whole screen.Yes, it matters: if your monitor is only 1080p, it's a waste of time to try to display 4000 pixels on those 1080 vertical ones, since it would make little to no difference in terms of the quality of the displayed image.
I have on my computer a Pictures folder, containing around 40.000 images, can't resize all of them. Doesn't really worth to resize / downscale some of them either. A slideshow skin in my opinion, should work without such resizes. Also, I don't quite follow what you mean by "not doable on a slideshow skin" - if you already know which folders / images will be part of the slideshow (which is almost always the case), there are a ton of programs out there that can batch / mass downscale and optionally copy images before you use them in the slideshow or even load the skin
