Well I guess that finding alternatives has risen to be the only way ppl learn new stuff.Good that you eventually made this work, but I still maintain and agree with sl23 that it should have worked by simply activating the next variant in the same config folder. In any case, either way you approached this, if it works then it's all good.
If everything was textbook, nothing new would happen. And by textbook I mean standard rather than using the Manual - that IS necessary to get things going.
I remember some double * and triple quotes being newfangled
